Palau is located in the Western Pacific Ocean from 800 km east of the Philippine. Palau has 586 islands that extend 250 km from north to southwest and most of the lands are covered by mangroves. Palau’s terrestrial biodiversity is extensive, which has about 7,000 species including about 5,000 kinds of insects, 1,364 kinds of plants, 141 birds, and 130, fungi etc (Kitalong et al., 2013).

Palau has about 500 kinds of plants in forest. It includes over 500 plants including 171 kinds of trees, 133 herbs, 96 ferns, 55 shrubs, and 43 vines etc. There are about 142 endemic plants including 65 trees, 31 orchids, 23 shrubs, and 16 herbs etc (Kitalong et al., 2013).
